Manipur: Thoubal police arrest most wanted drug smuggler

Guwahati/IBNS: The Thoubal district police of Manipur arrested a most wanted International drug smuggler from Cachar district in Assam on Tuesday.

The arrested drug smuggler was identified as 41-year-old Abdul Hashim hailing from West Agartala in Tripura.

Superintendent of Police (SP) of Thoubal district S Ibomcha Singh said that, Abdul did drug smuggling under the international drug smuggler Kyaw Kyaw Naing alias Abdul Rahim from Myanmar.

“The most wanted drug smuggler was arrested from Cachar district in Assam by a team of Thoubal district police led by Additional SP (Ops) Sachidanada,” S Ibomcha Singh said.

Abdul Hashim and Kyaw Kyaw Naing are most wanted in connection with FIR No. 94(8)2019 Thoubal police station where as 40 lakh WY tablets worth about Rs 400 crore were seized on August 24 last year from Phoudel Keiambi.

The top police official further said that, so far eight persons have been arrested in connection with the case including one international drug smuggler kingpin from Myanmar, 4 from Tripura and 3 from Manipur.
