New Delhi, Oct 14 (UNI): Slamming Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar for his remarks against party president Sonia Gandhi, the Congress on Monday said the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader owes an apology to all the women in the country for insulting them.

In a post on its Twitter handle, the Congress said, 'Chief Minister Khattar should apologise to every women for such a demeaning statement against the Congress interim chief Sonia Gandhi and insulting women".

Addressing a rally in Sonipat Haryana on Sunday, Khattar had said that after Rahul Gandhi's resignation from the post of the Congress Chief everyone thought now someone who would be the Congress chief will not be from the Gandhi family.

'However, after three months when the party made Sonia Gandhi as the chief it was like, 'khoda pahaad, nikli chuhiya, woh bhi mari hui... (like digging up a mountain to find a mouse, that too a dead one)," he reportedly said.

The Congress has called the remark a 'cheap' one and added that it shows the kind of mindset the BJP leader has for women.

Meanwhile, the Delhi Pradesh Mahila Congress has called the remarks on Congress Chief as 'misogynist'.

DPMC chief Sharmistha Mukherjee said that the comment by CM Khattar was shameful and further added that such remarks make abundantly clear that the BJP is full of people who are against women.

'This comment by @mlkhattar is shameful. It is abundantly clear that @BJP4India is a party full of rabid misogynists.', Mukherjee had tweeted.

The DPMC supporters led by president Mukherjee will be protesting against CM Khattar's remarks on Monday in the national capital.
