MEA, other depts join to organize virtual workshop on ‘Counter Radicalization’

New Delhi: The Ministry of External Affairs, in cooperation with the Ministry of Home Affairs [Bureau of Police Research & Development (BPR&D) jointly with its outlying training unit, the Central Detective Training Institute (CDTI)] organised a virtual workshop on ‘Counter Radicalization’ on Feb 2-3.

"Workshop was organised under the framework of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA)," read a statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs.

The virtual workshop was addressed by Mahaveer Singhvi, Joint Secretary, Ministry of External Affairs; Neeraj Sinha, Addl. Director General, BPR&D; and Anurag Kumar, Director, BPR&D.

Invited speakers shared their expertise on various topics including radicalization and extremism; rise of fundamentalism and its global impact; misuse of social media as a tool for radicalization; models of de-radicalization; and radicalization & international terrorism.

Representatives from several CICA Member States including, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Egypt, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Mongolia, Pakistan, Russia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Türkiye, Uzbekistan and Vietnam participated in the virtual workshop.
