Mehbooba Mufti concerned over manhandling of Tihar inmates from Kashmir, talks to Union Home Secy

Srinagar, Nov 28 (IBNS) : Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti  on Tuesday expressed concern over the reports of alleged harassment and manhandling of some inmates from the Jammu and Kashmir at  Delhi's Tihar Jail.

“Taking a serious view of these reports, the Chief Minister spoke to Union Home Secretary, Rajiv Gauba and asked him to intervene in the matter,”  an official spokesman said.

The Union Home Secretary assured the Chief Minister of a thorough probe into the incident and punishment of the culprits for having violated the jail manual. the spokesman added.

It has been reported that Shahid Yousuf, the son of Hizbul Mujhadeen Commander Syed Salahuddin, who is languishing in high security Tihar Jail, was mercilessly thrashed by the Tamil Nadu Force inside  the Jail on November 21.

His counsel has  produced a ‘blood-stained’ shirt of Shahid before the Patiala Court as a proof of torture.

Shahid Yousuf was arrested by NIA (National Investigation Agency) on October 24 this year in allegedly for funding terror outfits.

The Delhi court has extended the judicial custody of Shahid Yousuf till December 22 next month.
