Mike Pompeo meets Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad

Kuala Lumpur, Aug 3 (IBNS): Visiting Malaysia, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has met  Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad before departing for Singapore to attend the summit of foreign ministers of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

Pompeo congratulated Mahathir Mohamad over his election as the PM of the Asian nation.

The meeting took place in Malaysian Prime Minister's Office in Putrajaya.

Pompeo visited Malaysia on Thursday.

"Congratulations to PM Mahathir & the people of #Malaysia on a successful election & democratic transition. I look forward to deepening our partnership on a range of issues. @StateDept
@usembassykl," Pompeo tweeted.

He also shared an image of his meeting with the Malaysian leader on his Twitter page.
