Militant ambush kills three jawans, woman in Kashmir

Srinagar, Feb 23 (IBNS): At least three army soldiers and an elderly woman were killed and three other army jawans were wounded after militants ambushed a patrol party in south Kashmir's Shopian district on Thursday.

Reports said that a search operation was carried out at Kungnoo Shopian by 44 RR and police, while returning from Kungnoo, the party was attacked by unknown militants at Mulu Chitragam at about 2 am.

During fierce gunfight six army personnel including two officers were injured, of whom three succumbed to their injuries.”

One lady, Taja, who was hit by a stray bullet inside her house during the cross fire also succumbed to her injuries.
