Modi takes dig at Amarinder Singh, Punjab CM hits back
New Delhi, Mar 3 (IBNS): In a shocking remark after the BJP's win in two northeast states, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said the Congress doesn't even consider Punjab Chief Minsiter Captain Amarinder Singh as their own to only receive a counter statement by the latter.
Modi said this while addressing the party workers on Saturday after the poll victory.
He also said Singh only marches like an independent soldier.
Not in a mood to spare the PM, Singh has alleged that Modi is trying to wedge between the Punjab CM and his party.
Lashing out at Modi on Twitter, Singh said: "Who told you that @narendramodi ji? Not me for sure. Did the @INCIndia high command complain to you against me? Anyways, let me make it clear that such frivolous statements won’t help you create a wedge between me and my party, which has full faith in my leadership & vice versa."
Modi's comment came after the BJP had toppled the 25-year long Left rule in Tripura by winning 43 seats in a 60-member Assembly with one seat left for the election.
The Left could barely stop the Modi wave in Tripura as the Communist forces have been restricted to only 16 seats.
Modi said the BJP will also win in Karnataka, one of the last Congress bastions in the country.
Apart from Tripura, the BJP has stormed in other northeast state, Nagaland, where it will form government with former ally NPF.
With Tripura and Nagaland, the BJP is set to be power in 21 states in the country.
