Modi thanks media for supporting 'Clean India' campaign

New Delhi, Oct 25 (IBNS): In his first formal media outreach, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed journalists in the national capital on Saturday.

The event, titled ‘Deepawali Milan’, was held at 9, Ashoka Road adjoining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) headquarters.

“I would like to wish Deepavali to all of you present here. I am trying to make best use of my time to interact with all of you. I am trying to strengthen ties with media,” the PM said thanking the media for support for ‘Clean India’ campaign.

Sources said nearly 400 invites were sent out for the event. The media interaction will also see BJP president Amit Shah and other senior party leaders.

“We get both information and vision from the media. Just the Prime Minister wielding a jhadoo (broom) won’t do, everyone has to take the broom. Media can effect basic change even on issues like Clean India,” PM Modi said.

He said the media can change the image of a nation. “And a very big example is this nation-wide cleanliness campaign,” he added.
