Molestation charge against Bengal Guv: Former Raj Bhavan staffer moves Supreme Court questioning immunity to CV Ananda Bose

Kolkata/New Delhi/IBNS: Former Raj Bhavan staffer, who brought a molestation charge against West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose, on Wednesday moved the Supreme Court questioning the constitutional immunity granted to the Constitutional head of the state, media reports said.

She told the top court how the immunity granted to Bose would curb her fundamental Right to Life.

The case will be heard early next week.

The Governor's House is yet to react to the filing of the case in the Supreme Court.

In May, a female staff working with Kolkata's Raj Bhavan leveled serious allegations of molestation against Bose.

The alleged victim had filed a complaint with Hare Street Police Station in Kolkata stating that she has been allegedly molested by the Governor twice.

However, with the Governor enjoying legal immunity provided by the Constitution of India, the police are looking into the complaint and the allegations but may not be able to take any action against him.

The Kolkata Police have started probing into the allegations.

In a recent development, Bose filed a defamation case against West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee over her claims that women are scared to visit Raj Bhavan owing to the activities there, media reports said.

Bose has filed a defamation case against Banerjee and some Trinamool Congress (TMC) leaders for similar remarks in Calcutta High Court.

During her administrative meeting, Banerjee on Thursday said, "Women said they are scared to visit Raj Bhavan for the kinds of incidents reported from there."

In this context, two TMC MLA-elects, Sayantika Banerjee and Reyat Houssen Sarkar from Baranagar and Bhagobangola assembly constituencies respectively, have refused to visit Raj Bhavan for the oath-taking ceremony.

They have demanded Governor Bose to reach the assembly and administer their oaths.
