Mulayam Singh says national convention called by Akhilesh against rules
He said there is a need for strict action regarding the same.
The national convention comes after Mulayam Singh revoked the expulsion of Akhilesh and senior leader Ramgopal Yadav following a peace mediated by Azam Khan in Lucknow.
State party president Shivpal Singh Yadav on Saturday announced that Akhilesh and Ramgopal have been taken back into the party following Mulayam Singh's orders.
Shivpal Singh, Mulayam's brother and Akhilesh's uncle, who, media has often reported as the person behind the father-son rift, said on Saturday, "Now we will all fight UP polls united and will form the government with majority. Now all misunderstandings are over and we will discuss all the things again and take decisions. We will discuss on ticket distribution," reported NDTV.
Earlier on Saturday morning, Akhilesh Yadav invited all his party legislators to his official residence and over 200 legislators turned up, according to media reports.
The chief minister claimed he had the support of nearly 200 MLAs with him, which probably forced Mulayam to back down, reported the media.
Reportedly, around 20 legislators turned up at Mulayam's residence.
Akhilesh Yadav camp also wants Amar Singh out of Samajwadi Party, reported NDTV quoting sources.
Earlier in the week, when SP chief Mulayam Singh published the formal list of candidates for the upcoming state Assembly polls, a rift was created between him and his chief minister son, who was not happy with the list, media reported.
As a result, Mulayam expelled Akhilesh on Friday on charges of weakening the party.
On Saturday, senior SP leader Azam Khan agreed to mediate between father and son and took Akhilesh to meet Mulayam. He had also requested that the expulsion be revoked, media reported.
