Murdered DTC driver's family puts cremation on hold
New Delhi, May 11 (IBNS): The family of the Delhi Transport Corporation driver, who was beaten to death allegedly by a motorcylist, has has joined the protest by DTC employees.
According to reports, the driver's family has put the cremation on hold.
Protesting against lack of security, DTC drivers have refused to run the buses on Monday, a day after one of their colleagues was beaten to death.
The accused motorcylist was arrested in a case of road rage on Sunday.
Holding firm on their stand, the DTC drivers and conductors have said that they will not allow buses to ply until victim's family is given a compensation of Rs 1 crore and a family member is given a permanent job in DTC.
Ashok Kumar, the deceased bus driver, was a father of two. He was a resident of Haryana.
The Delhi government announced a compensation of Rs. 5 lakh for his family.
The government has also said that a permanent job in the transport department will be given to one family member of the deceased.
