Murshidabad Triple Murders Case: Police arrests prime accused, says murder motive revenge

| @indiablooms | Oct 15, 2019, at 01:56 pm

Jiaganj, Oct 15 (UNI) The Criminal Investigation Department (CID ) has arrested the prime accused in the Murshidabad's triple murders case, seven days after the entire family of  Bandhu Prakash Pal (35), a teacher,  his pregnant wife Beauty and their six-year-old son Angan were brutally murdered in their rented house while the entire state was celebrating Dasami on October 8.

The CID, which took up the case on October 12, arrested prime suspect - Utpal Behara - a mason and revealed that the motive of the crime was allegedly "badla"(revenge).

Police claimed they have made a breakthrough in the case and added that the accused murdered the family to take revenge when the teacher did not deposit premiums (money) of the accused at the insurance office.

Soon after the murder came to light, the opposition BJP hinted a political motive behind the murders and said the Pal was a BJP supporter and sort an appointment with the President of India and Union Home Minster to apprise the law and order situation of the state.

Police said the killings happened between 12-06 pm to 12-11 pm on Dasami and the prime accused eliminated the three within five minutes.

Police said Utpal Behara, a resident of Sahapur of Sagardighi, had paid Rs 48,000 to Pal, who was the agent of an insurance company, but he could not produce the receipts.

Police found traced the clues and finally arrested Utpal Behara, who confessed to committing the triple murders.

The milkman, who delivered milk to the Pal's house, had seen Utpal Behera rushing out of the house.

Police said the murders had no link to politics.
