'Muslim voters aren't your jagirs': Asaduddin Owaisi's strong reply to Mamata Banerjee

Hyderabad/Kolkata/IBNS: In a strong reply to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee who has accused the AIMIM of dividing Muslim votes, Asaduddin Owaisi on Wednesday said the voters from the community should not be taken for granted.

Banerjee during her rally in Jalpaiguri on Tuesday said, "The BJP brings the AIMIM from Hyderabad. The BJP wants to eat into the Hindu votes and the AIMIM wants to eat into the Muslim votes. So what we would do in the election!"

"They had divided the Muslim votes in the Bihar elections as well," the chief of the ruling Trinamool Congress said.

Countering Banerjee, who is accused by the BJP of minority (Muslim to be precise) appeasement, Owaisi tweeted, "So far you’ve only dealt with obedient Mir Jaffers & Sadiqs. You don’t like Muslims who think & speak for themselves. You’ve insulted our voters in Bihar.

"Remember what happened to parties in Bihar that kept blaming their failures on 'vote cutters' Muslim voters aren’t your jagir (grants)."

The AIMIM, which is dominant in Hyderabad, made a significant gain in the recently concluded Bihar polls where it had won five seats in the Seemanchal region, which borders West Bengal.

Immediately after the reasonable success in Bihar, Owaisi had said his party would contest the assembly elections in West Bengal, causing headaches to the Trinamool, in 2021.

Despite Owaisi's dream to land in West Bengal, several AIMIM leaders including its state chief Anwar Pasha had joined the Trinamool in the last week of November.
