NCP chief Sharad Pawar not to contest Lok Sabha elections, says time to give chance to youths
Pune, Mar 11 (UNI) Nationalist Congress Party(NCP) President Sharad Pawar on Monday said that he will not contest the next month’s Lok Sabha elections from the Madha constituency in Maharashtra.
Talking to media at the Baramati Hostel here, the NCP supremo premised his decision on the reasons that its' not upright if several members of a family go to polls altogether.
Pawar took this decision in a meeting attended by the senior leaders as well as the members from the family of Vijaysinh Mohite–Patil,a well-known NCP politician.
It is being speculated that another reason for Pawar's decision of not contesting the general elections is that the none of the Mohite–Patil family member is being fielded for the upcoming polls.
Adding to this theory,it is learned that the allied parties, have requested Sharad Pawar to flex his electoral muscle in favor of the regional parties by campaigning for them.
Pawar said, owing to the insistence from the party leaders,he gave his consent to contest Lok Sabha polls from the Madha constituency in Solapur district, but now he has decided to pave way for the youths, who are giving good political performance.
"The party leaders are insisting me to allot the Maval Lok Sabha seat to Parth Pawar, son of Ajit Pawar, which I will do,"informed Pawar.
