NCP-Congress to hold talks over Maharashtra government formation with Sena tomorrow
New Delhi/Mumbai/IBNS: The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Congress will hold talks over the Maharashtra government formation with Shiv Sena in Mumbai on Friday.
Congress leader Prithiviraj Chavan informed his party and NCP are on the same page and the final call will be taken after meeting the Sena leaders on Friday.
As the Presidential rule is in place in Maharashtra, the Shiv Sena, which broke its alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), is looking to form the government with the NCP and Congress.
After the poll results which came out on Oct 24, the Sena had demanded 50:50 power share in the government and rotational Chief Ministership which were rejected by the BJP.
Following the rejection of the demands, the Sena and BJP parted their ways.
The BJP has 105 seats, 40 less than the majority (145) while the Sena won 56 seats.
The NCP and Congress, which fought the polls in an alliance, have 54 and 44 seats respectively.
