New Delhi: A shootout incident in Delhi's Rohini court complex on Friday left a gangster and two others dead, media reports said.

The slain gangster was identified as Jitender Gogi.

Several people were hurt in the incident.

The shootout occurred in Rohini court number 2 when the undertrial gangster was being produced before a judge.

Delhi Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana on Friday said security lapses that led to firing at the Rohini Court Complex would be looked into.

He said two men dressed as lawyers opened fire at gangster Jitender Gogi inside the court. Police retaliated and killed those two assailants.

"We are taking stock of the situation. There is a security lapse, it will be looked into and we will take action," Asthana said after the incident.

He refused to comment further, adding that investigation is on.

In retaliation, Delhi Police Special Cell personnel, who were present there, killed two attackers, Chinmoy Biswal, PRO, Delhi Police told UNI.

In a swift action by a police team in launching counter fire on two assailants who were in lawyers' attire and attacked Jitendra, both assailants died along with Gogi,” Chinmoy Biswal, PRO, Delhi Police, said.

Police sources told UNI around 30-40 rounds were fired.

According to eyewitnesses, over 20 rounds were fired, creating fear at the premises.

The police suspect that the attackers were from a rival gang.

They said Gogi was arrested from Gurugram by the Special Cell in April this year.
