Patna/UNI Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday conducted an aerial survey of the flood-affected areas in West Champaran district and directed the concerned authorities to carefully operate Gandak Garage.

After inspecting the restoration of the damaged bolder stud of Pipra Piprasi embankment in between 32.38 kilometres to 32.56 km over the river Gandak, other ongoing safety work to protect Bagha Town and 1 to 18 gates of Gandak Barrage, Kumar asked the authorities to carefully expedite the work.

After inspection, Kumar said that the government has initiated steps to provide
job opportunity to those returned during lockdown from other states at their nearby places so that the migrants who came back should not be put under trouble in earning their livelihood.

Meanwhile, District Magistrate of West Champaran Kundan Kumar informed the chief minister that the migrants who came back were being provided with employment according to their skill.

He said that through self employment several migrants turned to entrepreneurs with the help of the administration.

The migrants were being provided with employment on war footing, informed the district magistrate.

The chief minister during the survey too took stock of the water discharge through the Gandak Barrage.

He also inspected the functioning of the control room of the barrage and asked the authorities to remain cautious.
