North Kashmir army Core Group meets to strategise election security
The meeting was chaired by Lt Gen Subrata Saha, the Chinar Corps Commander and attended by, Maj Gen Anil Chauhan, GOC Dagger Division, Maj Gen S K Saini, GOC Kilo Force, Mr AG Mir, IGP Kashmir, officers from the Headquarters and Commanders of various Sectors as well as officers of the state government, central and state police organisations.
The aim of the meeting was to review the security arrangements under way in North Kashmir for the forthcoming Assembly Elections so that a robust and well integrated grid is put into place to ensure smooth and incident free elections in Kashmir.
The Security Coordination meeting of North Kashmir was a follow up of the decision taken during the Corps Group Meeting and similar meetings were earlier held for South and Central Kashmir on 10 Nov 2014.
Addressing the participating members, Lt Gen Saha complimented them for a very high level of synergy at apex as well as functional level in maintaining a very robust counter infiltration grid and counter terrorism grid.
The Corps Commander also appreciated coordinated efforts at the level of the District SSPs and their counterparts. Efforts to counter the IED threats was particularly deliberated upon during the meeting.
While Army is directly involved in ensuring environmental security for the incident free conduct of elections employing human and technological resources, Army is also enabling the proficient functioning of CAPF by providing secure passages for their induction and deployment, logistic assistance in various forms and orienting them to the terrain, demography and security concerns.
All the participating members made striking contributions in terms of assessment and ideas towards putting a strong and efficient security apparatus for elections in North Kashmir.
The Corps Commander assured all the agencies of an unstinted assistance by Army to enable them to proficiently execute their role.
