NRRI research to benefit rice farmers say union agriculture minister
He also said that NRRI has developed CR Paddy 310 for the first time in the world, which contains 11% protein while other species of rice generally contain 6-7% protein.
Minister further added that the Institute is continuously trying to make rice farming beneficial and lasting.
The minister also spoke about various initiatives launched by the central government for the welfare of farmers.
The Central Rice Research Institute was set up on April 23, 1946. Elevated to a national institute, it is now known as National Rice Research Institute. It is part of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR).
This Institute has developed 114 rice species for different agriculture climate condition.
The Institute has two research stations- Central Rainfed Upland Rice Research Station (CRURRS), Hazaribagh, in Jharkhand, and the Regional Rainfed Lowland Rice Research Station (RRLRRS), Gerua, in Assam.
