New Delhi, Jun 3 (UNI) The Centre on Monday decided to give Cabinet rank to the National Security Advisor Ajit Doval after his reappointment, a senior official in the security set up said here.

He has been reappointed for the next five years.

In his earlier stint, he had Minister of States status like his predecessors.

The Cabinet status to the NSA Doval has been given in recognition of his contribution in the national security domain.

Kirti Chakra awardee Doval is a decorated officer (Retd) of Indian Police Service and the fifth NSA of India.

He served as Intelligence Bureau Director from 2004 to 2005 after spending a decade as head of the 'Operation wing'.
