Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik, 30 others file nominations for Assembly, Lok Sabha polls

Bhubaneswar, Mar 20 (UNI): Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik and 30 others today filed the nomination papers for Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in Odisha today.

Chief Electoral Office (CEC) office sources here today said while five nomination papers were filed for Lok Sabha, 26 nominations were submitted for Assembly seats.

The chief minister accompanied by his council of ministers and several other party leaders today filed the nomination papers at Chhatrapur sub-collector's office in Ganjam district for Hinjili Assembly seat from where he has been consecutively winning four times since 2000.

Nomination for first phase of election on April 11 and for second phase of election on April 18 began on March 18 and 19 respectively.

Filing of nomination for the first phase of election will continue till March 25 and for the second phase till March 26 next.

The scrutiny of nomination papers for the first and second phase of elections will be held on March 26 and 27 respectively.

The last date for withdrawal of candidature for first phase of election is March 28 and the last date for withdrawal of candidature for the second phase of election will be on March 29 .

CEC office here said three candidates today filed their nominations for Lok Sabha seats in first phase and one candidate for Lok Sabha seats going to polls in second phase of election.

Similarly 14 candidates have filed their nominations for Assembly seats going to polls in first phase and four candidates filed their nomination for Assembly seats in second phase.

So far, 3,355 non bailable warrants (NBW) have been executed in different districts of the state, 2,917 licensed guns deposited in concerned district administration offices and 59 unlicensed arms and weapons have been seized.

Raids have been conducted on four illegal arms manufacturing units and Rs 8.33 lakh seized by the flying squad.

As many as 207 cases have been registered against various vehicle owners for misusing the vehicles violating the model code of conduct.

The CEC office further said 231 complaints out of 259 received through C-vigil App have been solved.
