On birthday, Modi visits mother, seeks blessings

Ahmedabad, Sept 17 (IBNS) : Prime Minister Narendra Modi flew down to Gandhinagar to begin the day by visiting mother Heeraben Modi and seeking her blessings on his 67th birthday on Saturday.

Reports said the PM reached his mother's home shortly after 7 am  and spent about half an hour there.

Heeraben Modi offered the PM a special sweet and chatted with her son till he touched her feet and left.

Modi  later tweeted pictures of the meeting and said - "A mother's love and blessings are the elixir of life."

On Saturday, the PM has several programmes in Gujarat, which includes a meeting with the state's new Chief Minister Vijay Rupani and several other BJP leaders.  He is scheduled to visit  Dahod in central Gujarat where he will inaugurate an irrigation scheme and address a rally of tribals.

He will also visit Navsari in Surat to  distribute disability aid kits to over 1000 beneficiaries to set a Guinness Book of World Records.
