One cattle smuggler killed, two others injured in BSF firing incident along Indo-Bangladesh border

Guwahati, Aug 24 (IBNS): One cattle smuggler was killed and two others injured in police firing incident in Assam’s Karimganj district along Indo-Bangladesh international border on Friday night. 

According to the reports, the incident took place at Fulkandi Border Outpost area along Indo-Bangladesh border where some cattle smugglers tried to smuggle cattle to Bangladesh by crossing the border fencing.

The patrolling party of the Border Security Force (BSF) deployed at the Border outpost had spotted the cattle smugglers and asked them to surrender.

When the smugglers had tried to cross the border fencing, the BSF personnel were forced to fire upon them.

One cattle smuggler was died on spot and two others injured in the firing incident.

On Saturday, the top officials of Karimganj district police and BSF had reached the spot and recovered a body nearby the border fencing.

The injured persons were rushed to nearby hospital.

“The patrolling party of the BSF had spotted some unidentified persons along the Indo-Bangladesh border. The incident was happened nearby the border fencing. It is a hilly area. We have recovered a dead body nearby the border fencing. Investigation is going on,” a police officer said.

The deceased person is yet to be identified.
