One more COVID-19 positive case in Assam, tally rises to 28

Guwahati/IBNS: Assam has reported one more positive case for COVID-19 on Tuesday taking the state tally to 28.

The new COVID-19 positive case has been reported from Hailakandi district.

Assam Health Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the patient is 65-year-old and he had a travel history to Saudi Arabia.

“A person from Hailakandi district, with a travel history to Saudi Arabia, has been confirmed as #COVID19 positive. The total number of #Covid patients in #Assam now stands at 28," he tweeted.

According to the reports, nine cases have been reported from Golaghat district, four each from Nalbari and Morigaon districts, three from Goalpara district and one each from South Salmara, Kamrup (Metro), Kamrup, Karimganj, Lakhimpur, Cachar, Dhubri and Hailakandi district.

The Assam government stated that out of 28 COVID-19 positive cases in the state, 26 cases are related to the Nizamuddin Markaz event.
