Panama leaks: Jaitley says govt will probe Indians in the list

New Delhi, Apr 4 (IBNS) As the 'Panama leaks', a document exposing offshore financial deals of influential people of the world surfaced on Monday, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitly said that the government will probe all the 500 Indians named in the list.

Jaitley was quoted in the media as saying, "On the prime minister’s advice, a multi-agency group including CBDT (Central Board of Direct Taxes) and RBI will be set up to monitor disclosures and act upon them. All unlawful financial holdings abroad will face action."

"I welcome such investigations and exposes." he said.

The document contains names of aides to Russian president Vladimir Putin, Chinese Premier Xi Jinping, Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and celebrities including Barcelona forward Lionel Messi and actor Jackie Chan, reports said.
