Guwahati, Feb 24 (IBNS): The Guwahati city police has registered another case against Assamese singer Angarag Papon Mahanata for ‘inappropriately kissing’ a contestant in a children's reality show.
Earlier, the Assam State Commission for Protection of Child Rights had lodged an FIR against him.
Guwahati city police (East) ACP Mohneesh Mishra said that a case has been registered against Angarag Papon Mahanata and other crew members at Dispur police station under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO).
“The case (502/2018) has been registered based on a letter received from the Assam State Commission for Protection of Child Rights,” Mohneesh Mishra said.
The Assam police cop also said that police will ask the singer to corporate the investigation process.
Papon has also quit from the show and said ‘truth will prevail’.
On his social media post, the singer-composer said since he is in no mental state to fulfill most of his professional obligations, he has decided to step down as a judge on the show till the matter in which he has been falsely implicated is fully resolved and the investigations are over.
Papon was seen kissing a minor contestant of the reality show during a live video on his Facebook account.
The incident was happened while Papon and other contestants of the television reality show were celebrating a pre-Holi.
Papon and few kids were interacting with the fans through a Facebook live.
The Facebook live video had gone viral on social media which sparked massive controversy across the nation.
