People have accepted defectors: DK Shivakumar after Congress' likely defeat in Karnataka bypolls

| @indiablooms | Dec 09, 2019, at 11:29 am

Bengaluru/IBNS: As the Congress is heading for a massive defeat in the Karnataka bypolls on Monday, party leader DK Shivakumar said people have accepted defectors.

Shivakumar said, "We have to accept the result...We accept our defeat but Congress won't vanish."

As the results of the bypolls are coming out, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is ahead in 11 of 15 seats with two seats to Congress and one to Janata Dal Secular.

The BJP's win will ensure the BS Yediyurappa government's continuation as the Congress and JDS MLAs had defected and contested the elections in the saffron party's tickets.

Yediyurappa had promised cabinet berths to all the defectors.
