PM greets nation on Guru Nanak Jayanti

New Delhi, Nov 6 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday greeted the nation on the occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti.

In his message, he said: "I bow to the venerable Guru Nanak Devji on the occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti. The life & teachings of Guru Nanak Devji inspire us eternally."

"Let us follow the path of compassion, truth and peace as shown by him. Today is also a day to pledge to embrace the path of service & work towards a just and equal society, free from any kind of social evils," the PM tweeted.

This is one of the most sacred festivals in Sikhism.

But besides Sikhs, Hindus and other followers of Guru Nanak's philosophy also celebrate this festival.
