PM means 'elder brother,' Telangana CM Revanth Reddy says amid BJP's 'Modi ka Parivar' campaign

Hyderabad/IBNS: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, who is a Congressman, has made himself counted as a part of  'Modi ka Parivar', a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) campaign on social media in response to former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav's 'parivaarvaad' jibe.

"Hamare hisaab se Pradhan Mantri matlab bade bhai (According to us, Prime Minister means elder brother)," Reddy said in Adilabad on Monday, where he had gone to receive Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Telangana.

Explaining his stand, the Telangana CM said that states cannot prosper without the Prime Minister's help and he wanted to bring Telangana on par with Gujarat.

"Only with his (PM Modi's) help can Chief Ministers take their states forward. I request that if Telangana has to progress it has to move ahead like Gujarat, your help is required," he said at Adilabad, where he shared the dais with the Prime Minister.

In order to reach the Prime Minister's goal of a 5 trillion dollar economy, India needs five metropolitan cities.

"Hyderabad wants to contribute. Please support us in the Metro rail... Just as you developed the Sabarmati river, we want to regenerate our Musi river," Reddy said amid cheers from the audience at a gathering where PM Modi laid the foundation for Rs. 6,697 crore worth of projects.

This comes as Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP President JP Nadda, and other senior leaders Monday changed their Twitter bios in solidarity with PM Modi over 'parivaarvaad' jibe by Lalu Prasad Yadav.

On Sunday, during the 'Jan Vishwas Maha Rally' at Gandhi Maidan in Patna, Lalu Yadav said, "What is this Modi? Narendra Modi is attacking 'parivaarvaad' these days. First, you should explain why you do not have any children or family."

Several BJP leaders have added 'Modi ka Parivar' to their social media profiles.

In a veiled attack on the RJD chief, PM Modi, during his rally in Telangana, said, "When I question their familyism, these people have now started saying that Modi has no family."

"I want to tell them that 140 crore countrymen are my family, those who have no one also belong to Modi, and Modi belongs to them...my country is my family," he said.
