New Delhi, Sept 14 (IBNS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday congratulated Sania Mirza and her Swiss partner Martina Hingis on winning the US Open women's doubles title.

"Congratulations @MirzaSania & @mhingis on the phenomenal victory at the @usopen. Your accomplishments make us proud," the Prime Minister tweeted.

Sania won the US Open women's doubles with her Swiss partner Hingis on Sunday as the top-seeded partners vanquished the fourth seed team of Casey Dellacqua and Yaroslava Shvedova 6-3 6-3 in the final.

This is Sania's second consecutive Grand Slam title of the season, and fifth overall.

In the Mixed doubles final India's Leander Paes had partnered Hingis to annex the trophy the previous day.
