PM Modi taunts Rahul Gandhi's ambition to become PM, says 'it is a vanity"
Bangarapet, May 9 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi has termed Congress president Rahul Gandhi's 'wish' to become the PM of the country in 2019 as a "vanity", while addressing a rally in poll-bound Karnataka on Wednesday.
Modi made the comment while campaigning for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Bangarapet on Wednesday.
Referring to Rahul's wish to become PM, Modi said: "Without caring about any other political parties and experienced people, he (Rahul Gandhi) said he wants to become the PM of the country. This kind of self-declaration is a vanity."
Addressing the crowd, the PM added, "You tell me whether such a declaration exposes Congress itself or not."
Modi also referred to other regional parties saying the Congress president has declared himself as the next PM by keeping all other senior politicians in complete darkness.
"Congress pleads to all other parties to form alliance, But keeping all senior leaders from other parties in complete darkness, he (Rahul) declared himself as the next PM," Modi said.
When Rahul was asked recently whether he would become the PM or not, the Congress chief said he will if his party emerges as the largest political outfit in the next General Elections.
"If the Congress is (becomes) the biggest party, yes." Rahul said.
With a sheer conviction, Rahul said, "Modi will not become the PM in 2019.I can see it on his face."
Rahul even predicted the BJP won't get more than five seats in Uttar Pradesh in the next General Elections against a collective opposition.
Rahul succeeded his mother Sonia Gandhi as the Congress president in late 2017.
