PM Narendra Modi to address two election rallies in Assam on Mar 30
Guwahati, Mar 23 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be visiting Assam for campaigning in the first leg for Lok Sabha elections in the state on March 30 next.
BJP sources said here today that Modi will be attending two election rallies during his day-long trip to the state.
He will be addressing a rally at Gohpur, under Lakhimpur Lok Sabha constituency, and Moran, under Dibrugarh constituency.
BJP has retained its sitting MPs, Pradan Baruah and Rameswar Teli respectively, for Lakhimpur and Dibrugarh seats.
Besides the prime minister, a host of party top leaders are scheduled to campaign in the state.
These include Union ministers Babul Supriyo and Kiren Rijiju and other party national leaders Dr Mahendra Singh and Ram Madhav.
The BJP will be contesting in 10 out of 14 Lok Sabha seats in the state, leaving three seats for its ally Asom Gana Parishad and one for Bodoland People’s Front.
Assam will be going to polls in three phases on April 11, 18 and 23 next.
