PM Narendra Modi's Twitter account hacked, now secured

New Delhi/IBNS: One Twitter account linked to Prime Minister Narendra Modi was hacked in the wee hours of Thursday, the micro-blogging site said.

The Twitter account belonging to Modi's personal website was hacked with a series of tweets asking for donations to the Prime Minister's Relief Fund through cryptocurrency.

Confirming the hacking, Twitter told Reuters that it had taken steps to secure the handle.

"We are actively investigating the situation. At this time, we are not aware of additional accounts being impacted," a Twitter spokesperson told Reuters.

The hacker has been identified by one John Wick.

The account which was hacked has 2.5 million followers.
