PNB scam : CBI files chargesheet against Nirav Modi

New Delhi, May 14 (IBNS) : The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed its first chargesheet in the  Rs 13,400 crore Punjab National Bank scam  by business tycoon Nirav Modi and few others.

According to media reports, the chargesheet, filed in a special court in Mumbai, has detailed the alleged role of the bank's former CEO and MD  Usha Ananthasubramanian and few other top bank officials.

Ananthasubramanian, who is currently Allahabad Bank CEO and MD,  was at the helms of affairs of  PNB from 2015 to 2017 – and was questioned recently by the CBI in connection with the case.

The agency has also named PNB executive directors K V Brahmaji Rao and Sanjiv Sharan, and general manager (international operations) Nehal Ahad in its chargesheet.

The agency has stated the roles of Nirav Modi, his brother Nishal Modi and Subhash Parab, an executive in Nirav Modi's jewellery company, the reports said.
