Police arrest four persons for allegedly raping two Tripura women in Assam’s Karimganj district

Guwahati/IBNS: Police have arrested four persons for allegedly raping two women from Tripura in Assam’s Karimganj district.

Police said six persons have allegedly raped two women from Tripura at Nilambazar area in the southern Assam district in the midnight of Nov 13 and 14.

According to the reports, two women had come from Tripura to Silchar Medical College where the victim’s mother is undergoing treatment.

The women had taken a car on rent for their return journey and in midway the driver took them to an isolated area and raped them with five other persons.

Karimganj district Superintendent of Police (SP) Mayank Kumar said that, two women from Tripura had lodged an FIR at Bazaricherra police station against six unknown persons.

“We have arrested four persons so far and our investigation is on,” the top police official said.

A case has been registered at Bazaricherra police station.
