Police decamps with service rifle in Srinagar
Senior police official at Control Room Srinagar told IBNS, “ SPO Riyaz Ahmad of Khansaab Budgam South Kashmir today decamped with the service rifle (AK-47) of another Police Constable who was posted with Riyaz at same Rainwari Police Station.”
"An FIR was registered and departmental inquiry has been initiated," he added.
A policeman Naseer Ahmad Pandit last year, who was guarding the house of the then J&K roads and building minister Altaf Bukhari, decamped with two rifles.
Militant outfit Hizbul Mujhadeen later claimed that Pandit joined them.
This was the second incident in 2016 as on Jan 16, a cop decamped with four rifles from the residence of a top-ranking police
