Police seized huge quantity of drugs in Assam’s Srirampur gate

Guwahati: Police on Friday seized a huge quantity of drugs at Srirampur gate in Kokrajhar district along Assam-West Bengal border.

Police seized 3.1 kg of heroin and 85 kg of opium from a truck.

According to the reports, a police team of Gossaigaon police station had intercepted a truck bearing registration number RJ-14GD-9213 at Srirampur gate in Kokrajhar district and during search, the police team had recovered 3.1 kg of heroin and 85 kg of opium from the truck which were kept hide in the oil tank of the vehicle.

Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted – “#AssamAgainstDrugs In an operation conducted at Srirampur Gate, @assampolice seized 3.1 kg Heroin and 85 kg opium from an accused who was carrying it from a neighbouring state of Assam to another state in North India. Keep up the good work. @DGPAssamPolice.”
