Pollution sees dramatic fall in Delhi: Arvind Kejriwal

| @indiablooms | Sep 06, 2019, at 05:51 pm

New Delhi, Sep 6 (UNI) Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday said the National Capital has seen a dramatic fall in pollution by 25 per cent.

Addressing the mediapersons, Kejriwal said,'Pollution sees a dramatic fall in Delhi. This is reflected in reports presented by Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) and Delhi Pollution Control Board (DPCB).

According to report presented by CPCB in Parliament from 2012-14, PM 2.5 was 154, from 2016-18 it has reduced to 115.This means air pollution has come down by 25 per cent.'

The CM also thanked the Central Government, saying,'due to Eastern and Western Peripheral Expressways pollution has reduced, for this we would like to thank central government.'

"Delhi govt has been continuously working to bring the pollution level down. If we look at the data, from 2012 to 2014, Delhi had experienced only 12 days when the air quality was in good category, but from 2016 to now, Delhi has experienced 205 such days,' he said.

'The people of Delhi are very much concerned about pollution, because of this we are always concerned about our children, elderly and sick people. According to DPCB and CPCB, there has been a huge reduction in pollution in the last three years,' Mr Kejriwal said.

'With the rise of population and traffic in other cities, pollution is continuously increasing-similar trend would have been observed in Delhi had no steps been taken. But with the government's ardent efforts, the reports show that pollution has not just stopped rising, but is reducing,' he said.

'Two of the top 10 most polluted cities in the world are Gurugram and Ghaziabad, when our government was formed in 2015 it was something like this. I want to give the good news today that after many years the first time pollution has started to decrease rather than increase,' he added.
