Guwahati, Dec 6 (IBNS) : Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said that the state government will put in ‘resolute action’ for revamping the Civil Defence and Home Guards in the face of changing dynamics of crime and its manifestations.

Speaking at the Civil Defence and Home Guards Day at Central Training Institute, Panikhaiti on Tuesday, Sonowal said that the changing dynamics of crimes including insurgency have prompted the Government to put in resolute actions for revamping the Civil Defence and Home Guards and solve all their pending problems.

"For Civil Defence and Home Guards to perform up to their optimum level all their problems have to be solved as his government vows to take measures to bring all their problems to logical conclusion," Sonowal said.

Sonowal also said that the Government always takes a bow to the sacrifice of the Civil Defence and Home Guards who laid down their lives for the sake of the society at large.

He also pointed out that being an auxiliary force Civil Defence and Home Guards have been rendering a tremendous job in maintaining law and order and internal security as well as in extending help at the time of any natural disasters.

Terming Assam as a hugely resourceful state where peace and order should be maintained on a priority basis to catapult development activities, Sonowal lauded the role of Civil Defence and Home Guards in assisting the law enforcing agencies and playing a second fiddle role in maintaining law and order in the State.

Making his intent clear of making an Assam free from foreigners, corruption, insurgents and pollution where people can coexist peacefully, Sonowal called upon Civil Cefence and Home Guards to keep rendering their services and be an aid to Government’s avowed goal of ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikash’.

On the occasion of Civil Defence and Home Guards Day Sonowal inaugurated a blood donation camp besides unveiling a souvenir and witnessing a live demonstration of the role of Civil Defence and Home Guards.

Director General of Police Mukesh Sahay, Director General of Civil Defence and Commandant General of Home Guards Pradeep Kumar and host of senior police officers were present on the occasion.
