Puducherry: Boy arrested under POCSO

Puducherry, May 5 (UNI) A 19-year-old boy was arrested under sections of POCSO on Sunday for making a 16-year-old girl pregnant, aborting it and avoiding her.

According to police, Sathyaraj of Velrampet was in love with the girl from Villianur here.


He had sexual contacts with the girl resulting in her pregnancy. Following this, the two month pregnant girl insisted him to marry her. However, Sathyaraj took her and get her pregnancy aborted and later he avoided her.

The girl lodged a complaint with the Child Welfare Committee(CWC) here.The CWC officials conducted and inquiry and found the complaint of the girl true. Following this, they directed the police to initiate action against Sathyaraj.


Mudaliarpet police arrested Sathyaraj and lodged him in the Central Prison after presenting him before a Judge here.
