Amritsar, May 4 (IBNS): The Punjab Police has sounded a high alert after three men jumped a signal and sped away under suspicious circumstances near Baharampur sector, reports said.

Later the men abandoned the car and fled on foot in Bamiyal sector, few kilometres away from the Pakistan border.

The alleged incident took place on Thursday night.

The Times of India quoted Narot Jaimal Singh SHO Bharat Bhushan as saying that the vehicle, a Mahindra Scorpio SUV was coming from Gurdaspur.

Following inputs from the signal guards, the police chased the speeding car but the men ditched the SUV and was able to fled the spot, the police added.

Meanwhile, Pathankot SSP V S Soni has said that they have identified the absconders and will soon arrest them, stating it as a case of car theft.

The stolen SUV had fake registration number and actually belonged from Jammu and Kashmir.

The BSF too has been alerted and is on the lookout for possible terrorist infiltration.
