Rahul attacks Centre over Adani issue

New Delhi/UNI: Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Saturday launched a fresh attack at the BJP-led government at the Centre over the Adani Group issue.

"The Centre did not even talk about inflation in its budget. Unemployment was not even mentioned. Because the PM neither sees inflation nor unemployment," he wrote in a social media post, referring to the Union Budget.

In an apparent reference to billionaire businessman Gautam Adani, the Wayanad MP further wrote, "If he (Modi) sees anything, it is the business of his 'friend' and his progress. PM ji, now stop filling your friend's pocket and think about the people of the country."

Rahul had earlier asked PM Modi to come clear about his relationship with Adani, and also demanded an inquiry over the Hindenburg Research report on Adani Group.

The Congress leader had also accused the PM of "protecting" billionaire Gautam Adani.

Several Opposition parties including Congress have been demanding that the Centre either constitute a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) or set up an inquiry under the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court to look into the Hindenburg Research report.

The report alleged that Adani Group had engaged in stock manipulation and accounting fraud over the course of decades.
