New Delhi, July 4 (IBNS): Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday congratulated  Maj Gen V.D. Dogra as he completed a gruelling triathlon to earn the title of “Ironman”.

Gandhi called Dogra is an inspiration for all Indians.

"It takes tremendous will power , discipline & stamina to complete an #IronMan triathlon-3.8 KM swim; 180 KM cycle; 42.2 KM run. Major General Dogra did that, in Austria, in just 14 hrs! He is a role model & inspiration for all Indians. We salute him!," Gandhi tweeted.

An Ironman Triathlon is one of a series of long-distance triathlon races organized by the World Triathlon Corporation (WTC), consisting of a 2.4-mile (3.86 km) swim, a 112-mile (180.25 km) bicycle ride and a marathon 26.22-mile (42.20 km) run, raced in that order and without a break.

It is widely considered one of the most difficult one-day sporting events in the world.
