Rahul Gandhi likely to form advisory council to boost party

New Delhi, Jun 7 (IBNS): Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi has taken a leaf off his mother Sonia Gandhi's book to revamp the beleaguered party by forming an advisory council, according to media reports on Tuesday.

It has been decided that a group consisting of 10 leaders will decide the party's policy on key issues, including welfare reforms.

Party veterans such as former union ministers P Chidambaram and Ghulam Nabi Azad are likely to be part of the group, which is expected to be formed after the Rajya Sabha elections are held on Saturday, media reported.

Congress President Sonia Gandhi used to head a similar council consisting of business people and activists during the tenure former prime minister Manmohan Singh, according to the media.
