Rahul Gandhi should apologise for Sam Pitroda's comment on airstrike: Amit Shah
New Delhi, Mar 23 (IBNS): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah on Saturday said Congress chief Rahul Gandhi should apologise for his party man Sam Pitroda's comment on the airstrike carried out by the Indian Air Force (IAF) post-Pulwama attack.
"Congress president Rahul Gandhi should apologise to the country, martyred paramilitary personnel and all brave soldiers for Sam Pitroda's comment," Shah said in a press conference.
What did Pitroda said?
Sam Pitroda, a close aid of Rahul Gandhi, said it would be unfair to blame an entire nation for the activities of few people with a reference to the recent Pulwama terror attack that had left at least 40 Indian paramilitary personnel martyred.
Pitroda also asked for more proofs of the airstrike conducted by the IAF as a response to the Pulwama attack.
Shah asks not to politicise Pulwama attack:
Amit Shah on Saturday hit out at the Congress for politicising the attack. "We have no problem with Congress' vote bank politics. All people knows that Congress has developed this vote bank politics in the country but will they play politics with the martyred soldiers?"
However, it was BJP leader and former Karnataka Chief Minister, BS Yeddyurappa, who had stirred row by saying the saffron party will win 22 out of 28 Lok Sabha seats in Karnataka in the upcoming polls.
Congress distances from Pitroda's comment:
In an aim to distance his party from Pitroda's comment, Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala on Friday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the ruling BJP should stop using an individual's opinion to "spread venom".
Surjewala had tweeted, "Modiji & BJP should stop using an individual’s personal opinion to spread venom! Instead of hiding behind the sacrifice of our armed forces, PM must answer to Nation on- Jobs crisis, Agrarian distress, Demo & GST disasters & Economic downturn."
