Rahul hits PM for wearing Rs. 10-lakh suit
New Delhi, Jan 29 (IBNS) Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi on Thursday launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi for wearing "a 10-lakh suit" during his recent summit with US President Barack Obama.
Addressing an election rally, the Sonia scion said the PM had vowed to recover hordes of black or undeclared money hidden by Indians in foreign bank accounts, depositing 15 lakhs for each poor Indian. "Did you get the amount? No, you didn't but Modi-ji is wearing Rs.10-lakh suit," he said.
The PM's dark-coloured suit had stripes with his name over and over, making it a subject of attention during Obama's three-day visit to India.
The 44-year-old leader also accused BJP of inciting communal trouble before elections.
"Wherever there are elections, they have communal clashes.... The BJP wants to divide Hindus and Muslims, wants the poor to fight. That is what their strategy is..", he said.
Deriding at Modi for his promises of job creation and check on inflation, Rahul said that has not happened and 'instead, he gave you a broom." He made an obvious reference to the PM's 'Clean India' campaign.
Rahul also trained his gun at Aam Aadmi Party saying it has 'just one agenda : to stop Congress from coming to power."
"When the UPA ruled, Arvind Kejriwal raised issues of rape and corruption and held protests. Now when there is a NDA government, rape cases in Delhi have increased by 30 per cent but Kejriwal did not hold any protest," he said.
Speaking on what Congress would do once it came to power, he said everyone would be taken as part of the progress in Delhi, the national capital.
Rahul promised that Congress would regularise contract workers and make the temporary workers permanent.
"Let me tell you what Congress will do. There will be a government of brotherhood. We ruled here for 15 years and not a single riot took place,"
"We will provide shelter to every poor person of Delhi so that they also feel that Delhi is their city," he said.
