Rahul you were wrong, there's no violence in Kashmir as you imagined: BJP
New Delhi, Aug 28 (IBNS): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday cornered Rahul Gandhi for his remarks on Kashmir and said the Congress leader's claim that the Valley is witnessing violence has been acknowledged in Pakistan and shamed his own country.
Addressing a press conference, Union Minister Prakash Javadekar said: "Rahul Gandhi said that things in Jammu and Kashmir were going wrong, there were reports of people dying in J&K. You were wrong, Rahul Gandhi. Things are fine in Kashmir, there is no violence as you imagined. People haven't died."
Javedekar said alleged that while Gandhi's comments were slammed in India, Pakistan acknowledged the same.
"Pakistan used his remarks. The Pakistani application to the UN mentions remarks made by Rahul Gandhi. The application states that acts of violence have been acknowledged by mainstream party leaders such as Rahul Gandhi," said he.
He also said that Rahul Gandhi's tweet earlier in the morning claiming Kashmir is an internal issue was a result of facing the rage of Indian people.
The Congress leader on Wednesday said that Kashmir is an 'internal issue' of India and there is no room for any other country, including Pakistan, to interfere in it.
"I disagree with this Govt. on many issues. But, let me make this absolutely clear: Kashmir is India’s internal issue & there is no room for Pakistan or any other foreign country to interfere in it," Gandhi tweeted.

He said Jammu and Kashmir is facing violence as it is supported by Pakistan.
"There is violence in Jammu & Kashmir. There is violence because it is instigated and supported by Pakistan which is known to be the prime supporter of terrorism across the world," he said.

Kashmir issue:
The Indian government scrapped the Article 370 which provided special status to Jammu and Kashmir.
The government bifurcated Jammu and Kashmir into two Union Territories, Jammu and Kashmir with an assembly and Ladakh without an assembly.
Article 35A of the Indian Constitution allowed the Jammu and Kashmir state's legislature to define “permanent residents” of the state and also provided special rights and privileges to those permanent residents.
Article 370 allowed Jammu and Kashmir to have its own constitution, flag and right to handle its own laws except on matters that impact national security.
The decision had further escalated tension between India and Pakistan in recent times.
