Ricky Kej slams Air India for downgrading him to economy class without prior notice, calls it 'rude'

New Delhi/IBNS: Grammy award winner Ricky Kej Saturday lashed out at Air India for "downgrading" him from business to economy class without prior notice to him and even refusing him any refund for the same.

"It is ok to have operational issues due to unforseen circumstances. But to not provide quick and effective resolutions for the same is absolutely criminal.. and not befitting of a reputed brand," the music composer wrote in a post on X.

Kej said he faced the sudden service downgrading for the third time in the past year and urged Air India to "introspect" their capability of operating an airline.

"Since this "downgrading" on @airindia happens so often (3 times just with me), you would imagine that they have protocol in place. Immediate refund, options for other flights, immediate intimation and apology for discomfort. They do none of the above, and instead are rude, clueless, high-handed and behave as if they are doing a huge favor to you by just boarding you," he said.

Threatening to take legal action against the airline, Kej said he expects a full refund as he was not offered the service he paid for.

"I think it is a very reasonable ask @airindia. Since you have downgraded me from business to economy class (without any prior notice) all that I need to know:
1. How much of refund I will get.
2. When will I get my refund
3. How do I get the refund"

"Based on this I can make a decision to change my flight, or board. Also you need to give your customer Peace of mind that I will not have to run from pillar to post to get my refund.  Also, I will only expect a 100pc refund, because I was not offered the service that I chose and paid for. If not, I WILL be taking legal action," he wrote.
