Ruckus in Jammu and Kashmir Assembly over passage to GST Bill

| | Jul 04, 2017, at 09:02 pm
Srinagar, Jul 1 (IBNS) : Ruckus ruled the roost in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly on Tuesday as the opposition National Conference and Congress staged protests against the GST bill, reports said.

Independent MLA Engineer Rashid, who was protesting against the move to give passage to GST Bill, had to be marshalled out of the House and the proceedings were adjourned for some time.

Opposing the GST bill, the  NC and the Congress said it would interfere with Kashmir’s financial autonomy.

Outside the Assembly, NC and Congress leaders showed black flags opposing the GST Bill.

Earlier in the day, journalists, too, staged a walkout from the Assembly after they were barred from carrying cameras inside during the special session for GST Bill.

However, the journalists ended the boycott after the Speaker  allowed them to carry cameras inside the House.

With Jammu and Kashmir being the only state left to join the GST regime, the state Assembly is expected to pass the GST bill in the Assembly by July six.
