SC to hear Italian marines' plea to head back home

New Delhi, Sep 12 (IBNS): The Supreme Court on Friday will hear a petition submitted by an Italian marine, detained for the killing of two fishermen in 2012, to fly back home on medical grounds, reports said.

The court, during a hearing on Monday, had also asked the government to give its response by Friday after Italy’s foreign minister urged authorities to grant Massimiliano Latorre permission to head back home for medical treatment.

Sources said the marines’ counsel had also assured the court that the Italian ambassador would sign an undertaking assuring Latorre’s return after two months.
